Stephanie Cammarano

Growing up in a home surrounded by religious iconography, from a young age photographer Stephanie Cammarano gravitated towards the dark edge of creative expression; journeying amongst paintings by the likes of Caravaggio and Rembrandt and immersing herself in crime and horror film genres such as Italian ‘Giallo’. Her first encounter with fashion photography came, perhaps unsurprisingly, from a copy of Vogue Italia, where Steven Klein's saturated cinematic narrative sparked wonder and made perfect sense. Quickly engaging with novel digital mediums, Stephanie merged her interest in the expression of life’s grittier sub currents with a love of portraiture. On set, Stephanie is single-minded when it comes to creating an atmosphere of ease, trust and fun - a safe space where subjects are disarmed, and freely express raw emotion.Stephanie’s professional life began through working with local cult labels, who were attracted to her evocative monochrome portraiture. This was soon followed by early international commissions, producing work for a collective in Long Beach, USA, collaborating with multi-disciplinary American artist Jesse Draxler in a campaign for Alicia Hannah Naomi, and shooting now-Euphoria star Jessie Andrews for I-D AU/NZ, as well as commissions from The Greatest Magazine and Russh. Stephanie now has an extensive commercial and editorial client roster, shooting lookbooks and campaigns for fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands - many of whom engage her not only for photography but also for art direction and casting.
